My child is a freshman in high school and failing math. First, try to find out if there may be any external reasons causing difficulties. This could include recent life or routine changes (high school can be a major adjustment, especially if your child has moved to a new school and has to make new friends and get to know a new environment) or other social stressors. If you have ruled out any external issues, have a conversation with your child to determine which areas they struggle with. You may be able to arrange extra support from your child’s school, on a temporary or long-term basis. If not, you can arrange math help online, which your child can access from home conveniently.
